Anthony Tony Blue Jr.

Anthony Tony Blue Jr aka “Duke” was born on April 9th, 1961, in New Haven, CT to the late Patricia G and Anthony Tony Blue Sr.  He attended New Haven Public schools.  Anthony grew up in the bricks, Ashmun Street Projects.  He knew everybody and so many called him “Pops”.  He loved the company of his family and would take great pleasure in winning a game of spades every chance he could.  And after that win, he would definitely be ready to pile that plate up too.  Anthony was a family man and would do anything for them.  Anthony transitioned this life on March 22nd, 2023, at the age of 61.

Anthony leaves to cherish his memories:  four sons Maurice Gray, Zagary Gray, Malcolm Hoey (Stephanie), and Andrew Brown “Nu-Nu”; two daughters Shahara Gray, and Chakana Blue; five grandchildren Tytiana Gray-Reeves, Autumn Gray, Tyjier Thomas, Noah Gray, Christopher Gray and two great grands Quimani and Quimya Gray.  He also leaves his siblings Delores Jones (Clinton Snooks), Tyrone Blue (Francis), and Michael Burruss all of Georgia; Roxanne Blue, James Harding Jr, and Leon Brown all of Connecticut and a host of family members and friends. Anthony was predeceased in death by his parents Patricia and Anthony Blue Sr, son Mykale Hoey, brother Warren T Blue, sister Annette Blue maternal grandparents Mary E Jones (Willie Jones), Lawerence Robinson, and nephew Tythron Blue.

A celebration of Anthony’s life will be held on Saturday April 8, 2023 at 9am at Trinity Temple Church 285 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven. Viewing in Church from 8-9am. Interment to to follow at Hamden Plains Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
