On Thursday September 5, 2024, Benjamin Franklin Young “Frankie” gained his wings.  Frankie was born on December 5, 1967, to the late Margaret “Babe” Young and the late Vernell Britton.  Frankie leaves to cherish his memory: Brother, Willie “Moe” Young (Denise), Sister, Margaret “Nae-Nae” Young, Brothers Windell Brunson and Dion Britton, Sisters Adrienne Britton and Michelle Tate and his bonus son, Tre Edwards.   His nephews and nieces:  Shatara Sullivan, Isaiah Graves (Rachida), William Young, ReJae Jordan-Young, Roney Young, Sha’Ron Young, Ronisha Young, Brittany McKnight, Bretonia Young, Braia Young, DeShaenae Young, and Kai Jones.   He also has 11 Great Nieces and Great Nephews.  Frankie also leaves to cherish his memory: Special Friend Christine Edwards, his favorite Aunt Jeanette Willoughby, Cousins/Brothers Leon Bowman and Clarence “Horsey” Willoughby and a host of cousins and extended family members.

Frankie graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1986.  After high school graduation, he attended Porter and Chester where he received a certification in automotive repair. He often spent his free time repairing cars for his family, friends and co-workers.

Frankie was a certified mechanic and a machine operator.  He was a hard worker, dedicated employee and was a member and past Union President of Local 151 where he advocated for fair and equal treatment of all employees.  He was most recently employed as a Machine Operator at Trelleborg from October 2004 until his retirement in October 2023.  He was previously employed at Circuit Wise in the Plating Department as a Machine Operator from 1986 until 2004.   In addition to his full-time employment and his side job as a mechanic, Frankie was the primary caretaker for his mother until her passing.  He cooked for the family, neighborhood and co-workers every Sunday.  He was a handy man, a landscaper, a barber, and a collector of all things.

Frankie is a loyal New York Giants and New York Knicks fan.  He faithfully watched his teams and cheered them on rather they won or lost.

He was predeceased by his parents and younger sister Stephanie Michelle Young.  In addition to them, his Uncles Edward Young, Harold Young, James Young, and Lee Harris and Aunts Louise Young, Lois Young and Lula Mae Young.

A celebration of Benjamin’s life will be held on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 9am at Colonial Funerals 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing in Colonial from 8-9am. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
