Beryl Amanda Anderson, age 79, of New Haven, entered into eternal life on January 8, 2026 at Connecticut Hospice of Branford. Beryl was born on September 14, 1946 in the parish of St. James on the Island of Jamaica, the third child of Wilbert and Winnifred Anderson. She received her first Education at Kensington Basic School before, advancing to Springfield All Age School. From a young age, Beryl demonstrated a strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility toward her family and community.
In her early adulthood, Beryl and her partner Lynell moved in together at point square. They operate a General store in point square. Though the venture ultimately faced economic challenges, it underscored Beryl's natural leadership, resource fullness, and commitment to creating opportunities for herself and those around her. Returning to Kensington to support her young family; daughters Alcia and Paula and her son Linford. Unfortunately her daughter Paula passed away at a young age. Within all of his grief, she have to find employment to take care of her family. Beryl found meaningful work at an orphanage in Montego Bay. These, she poured her compassion and energy into the lives of vulnerable children, earning a reputation for patience; kindness, and unwavering dedication.
Many years pass, Beryl married Lynell and she migrated to the United States in 1985, Beryl relocated with her family to Brooklyn, New York. Determined to provide stability and security, she completed a certified Home Health Care Worker Training Program. She joined Beth Emeth Home Care Agency, where she delivered personalized in-home support to elderly and disabled clients, trained and coordinated with team of caregivers, become known for her meticulous attention to detail and warm bedside manner. Over the years, Beryl balanced career and family life, raising grandchildren and extending her generosity to nephews and friends, many of whom she treated as family.
After purchasing her own home in Brooklyn, Beryl remained deeply involved in her Sabbath Church Community. Later, she spent time living in Connecticut and Boston to Be close to her children and grandchildren. Despite health setback in her later years that required hospitalization and rehabilitation, Beryl's spirit remained unshaken. She embraced physical and occupational therapy with determination and always greeted each day with gratitude. Known affectionate as "Mama," Beryl was celebrated for: Her legendary cooking preparing large pots of hearty Jamaican dishes for family and friends, placing the needs of others before her own, whether in her home, church, or community, living out her faith through service, kindness, and compassion
Beryl Anderson is survived by her loving children Alcia and Linford. Her cherished grandchildren Romaine, Andrew, Alyssa, Naomi, Anthony, Toniann, Shaun, Tyrone, Anton, Jessica, Maranda, Karena, Zeana. Her beloved great grandchildren Destined, and Brooklyn. Also survived by her siblings Wesley "Pinno", Albert "Shorty", and extended family and friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were touched by her generosity. Her legacy endures in the countless lives she nurtured both through her professional caregiving and her boundless love for her family. Rest in Peace, Mama. Your kindness and dedication continue to inspire us all.
A Celebration of Beryl's Life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 in Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden at 11am. Viewing in Colonial from 10am-11am. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery in Hamden, Connecticut. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com.
