Brenda Marie Newman, 69, of Hamden, CT, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Rose-Lee and James Howard on August 9, 1949. Brenda attended Birmingham Public school system and later moved to New Haven, CT Where she met and married the late Bobby Wayne Newman. She was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church, where Pastor James Newman is the Pastor. She loved her “puzzin books” (word search puzzle books), and watched old TV shows. She would talk to the actors and actresses as if the could here her. Her famous sayings were “be good to yourself” and “drive careful” after each phone call, whether you were driving or not. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, children, Angela Newman and Corey (Regina) Howard of New Haven, CT. Grandson, Bobby Newman. Sisters, Mary L. Smith of Florida, Anna-Lee Jackson, Willadean Garett, of Alabama. Brothers, William Howard and James (Jr) Howard III. Sister-in-law, Benita Newman and brother-in-law, Pastor James (Antoinette)Newman. She also leaves nieces, nephews, and grandchildren (by marriage) that loved her. Brenda was predeceased by her son James Howard, sister, Elenor Lewis and brother, Bobby Lee.
A Celebration of Brenda’s life will be held on Monday May 13, 2019 in Colonial, 86 Circular Avenue Hamden at 11am. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Interment will follow in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
