He is preceded in death by his son Curtis Rogers Jr. of New Haven and siblings; Myrtice Walker, Annie M. Harris, Jernita, James, Glenn and Willie Tippens.
He was a life-long partner to Annette Greenlee. He leaves behind 8 daughters, Mellerdean Rogers-Robinson of Savannah, GA., Diane (John Smoakes) of Hamden, Donna (Darrell Spears) of Hamden, Elesia (Ernest Mullins) of Hamden, Bridget Moncrease of Greenville, NC, Pam Moncrease of West Haven, Danyell Rogers of Hamden, Erika (Ebony Washington) of New Haven and 4 siblings; Minnie Rogers-Sanders of Virginia, Judy Berry of Georgia, Carolyn Rogers and Eunice Muldrow of New York. Curtis was born and raised in Glennville, GA. He moved to New York and then Connecticut. He was a member of a band in his younger years and performed at small bars and clubs as a singer and dancer. He worked as a truck and bus driver and retired as a maintenance supervisor at the New Haven County Courthouse. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, gardening, cooking, traveling, music, drinking coffee and telling stories about his life. He also liked playing cards, watching game shows, comedy and old movies. He was very social, independent and active. Some would say he was very stubborn and had a mean streak; but he would give you the shirt off his back or the money in his pocket, even if you didn’t ask for it. His family and friends will always remember his big smile and comical sense of humor.
