Dajsha Renea Knight was born to Glenn Young and Venustine Mcclease at Yale New Haven Hospital on October 29, 2002. She departed this life on July 27, 2024, in New Haven, CT.

Dajsha attended James Hillhouse High School for her first two years before transferring to New Haven Academy for the remaining two years. Her senior year was a struggle due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New Haven Academy had to cancel her prom and her senior trip, and her class was forced to settle for a drive-by graduation. Despite everything, she kept her head up and always had that smile on her face. Dajsha graduated and brought home her diploma in 2020 from New Haven Academy.As she got out of the car to walk across the stage, she did it with essence and debuted on the front page of the New Haven Register newspaper.

Dajsha attended and became a member of the Faith, Power, and Deliverance Center of New Haven, CT, founded by Bishop-Elect Robert D. Keene Sr. and First Lady Cheryl Keene (also known as her Godparents) in 2008.  Dajsha was such a loving person with a beautiful personality and an amazing smile that would brighten everyone’s day. She always wondered where her journey was going to take her. She started pursuing different career pathways like becoming a vet, musician, and lawyer. Dajsha had many talents. Because of her love for animals, shedid community service at an animal shelter. During her time at Hillhouse, she joined the band where she played the flute and clarinet, and she also joined the Law Debate team. She also served the elderly as a CNA and children as a childcare provider.Dajsha also professionally baked specialized cheesecakes, started her business and created her brand, Sweetz By Knight. Dajsha loved life and lived it to the fullest. There was no dull moment in her presence. She came with a lot of nicknames, such as Mooke, Wajsha, Smiley, Titi, Daj, Pookie, Chicken Nugget, Lil’ Big Sister, Sissy, Ma Goose, and Daddy’s (firstborn) Little Girl.

Dajsha was preceded in death by late grandparents, David(Papa) Clark, Elsie (Nana) Thomas, Connie Mae Walker, and Glenn Young Sr., and aunt, Javette (Calvin) Haughton. Dajsha leaves to cherish her memory her fiancé, JahQuez Borrelli;grandparents, Joanne Westley, and Johnnie (Cheryl) Jackson of New Haven, CT; parents, Glenn -Dad (Darlena affectionately called Mumba) Young and Venustine – Mommy (Nicholas) Mcclease of New Haven, CT; godmother, Juanita Drummer;siblings, Rayshone Tinney of New London, CT, Christina Knight of West Haven, CT, Glennshon (Aysha) Tomlin of Chicago, IL, Elijah (“E”) Williams of West Haven, CT, Glenn Tucker of Virginia, Pashein (Jordan) Young of Trumbull, CT, Auterria (Nonie) Knight, Avron (Big Brother) Young, Amirah (Big Lil’ Sister) Young, and Darrin (“D”) Young of New Haven, CT; aunts & uncles, Dawayne (Kuake) Knight of Middletown, CT, Elisa Clark of Hinesville, GA, Donnell McEachin of Harlem, Manhattan, Gwendolyn Young of Bridgeport, CT, Edward Young of Milford, CT, Johnita Jackson, and Jeeanya(Gigi) Young of New Haven, CT; nieces and nephews, Elijah(Eli) Martin of West Haven, CT, Gorgeous Tinney, Jahki Tinney, Lanasia Tinney, Messiah Tinney, Morgan Tinney, Nasir Tinney, Rayshone Tinney Jr., Tylon Kelly, and Ziair Kelly of New Haven, CT, and Davion & Dontrell Clark of Hinesville, GA;best friends, Legacy Smith and Malicka Bailey; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Dajsha‘s life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Ebenezer Chapel 50 Dwight Street, New Haven, CT 06511 at 11am. Viewing in church from 10 to 11am. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
