Waterbury – Ms. Darnetta (Spellman) Wiggins, 67, of Waterbury, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Darnetta was born on March 24, 1953, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to the late Henry L. Spellman, Sr. and Rosella (Riddick) Spellman.  Darnetta was a graduate of Crosby High School.  She was employed for many years and retired from Siemon Company of Watertown.

Darnetta was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly Church of Waterbury.  Darnetta was fun loving, and enjoyed dancing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Darnetta leaves to cherish her memory, her Mother, Rosella Spellman, 6 sisters, WillaFaye (Eddie) Moore of Indiana, her twin sister Loretta Hurdle, Grace Spellman, Gayle (Bert) Pittman, Cherrie (Kerry) Ervin all of Waterbury, Tamara (Othar) Wilson  of Meriden, 3 brothers, Henry L. Spellman, Jr. and Mark (Ruth) Spellman, Sr. both of Waterbury and Timothy (Birgit) Spellman of Colorado, 2 grandsons, Wallace L. Wiggins, III and Jordan Wiggins, 1 great-grandchild and her long-time companion, Al Moore, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.

Darnetta was predeceased by her father, Henry L. Spellman, Sr. and her only child, Wallace L. Wiggins, Jr.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 at Colonial, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury, Connecticut with walk-thru calling hour from 11 to 12 p.m. funeral service beginning at 12 p.m.  Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury.  COVID-19 Mandates will be honored.  Masks are required.
