The life and legacy of Brother Darrell L. Streater
Darrell L. Streater 57, was born on August 4, 1968, at Yale New Haven Hospital to the late Robert L. Streater and Shirley Streater. He was a resident of West Haven, CT. Darrell received his certification from Stratford Career Institute in St. Albans, VT and graduated with High Honors in Drug & Alcohol Treatment Specialist, as a Counselor in 2013, from there Darrell went on to work as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor at the Emergency Shelter Management Services, Inc in New Haven until the shelter closed in 2018, he retired from KX Technologies in West Haven due to physical health issues in 2020, after this time Darrell proudly dedicated his time and love to his Church serving not just as a member but proudly as Head of Administration until his health worsen. On May 11, 2026 God called him home to Eternal Rest in the care of Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT.
Brother Darrell accepted the Lord as his personal Savior over 12 years ago at Salvation and Deliverance Church in New Haven, CT. under the leadership of Apostle Aaron Gerrett Jr. and Evangelist First Lady Gerri Garrett, as he served as the Head of Administration and the Apostle's Personal Security.
Darrell decided after spending 15 wonderful years with the Love off his life Cynthia, he would go before God in Prayer and and that Prayer lead him to join in Holy Matrimony with Cynthia his Wife on July 30, 2016 celebrating with their families, close Love ones and friends.
He is survived by his loving Wife Evangelist Cynthia Salters-Streater, and 8 children, Daughter Je'Darrah Streater (New Haven, CT) Daugther Jamay Streater (East Haven, CT), Son Darrell Streater Jr. (Columbus, GA) Son Romaine (Melanie) Jackson (Columbus GA) Daughter Karrae Streater (New Haven, CT) Daughter Mia Streater (New Haven, CT) Step-Daughter Glenda (Rashon Dingle) Santos, (New Haven, CT) Step -Daughter Natasha (Joshua Williams) Santos (New Haven, CT) 9 Grandchildren, God-Daughter Delilah Mercer (New Haven CT), Sisters Sandra Streater (New Haven, CT) and Maria Streater (Inglewood CA) and his cousin whom he loving called his Brother Maurice Little (New Haven CT) Brother in-law Adam Salters (Hamden, CT) Sister in-law Linda Salters (Hamden, CT) Mother in-law Mattie Mae Salters (Hamden, CT) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he grow up with along the years and his Salvation & Deliverance Church Family.
Darrell is preceded in death by his loving Father Robert Streater, Mother Shirley Streater, Father In-law Adam Salters and both Paternal Grandparents and Maternal Grandparents.
A celebration of Darrell's Life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Salvation and Deliverance Church, 127 Thompson Street, New Haven, CT 06511. Viewing will be held at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
