Deidre Stewart-Mckenzie

Deidre Stewart-McKenzie transitioned peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Deidre was born on September 27, 1970 to Kenny Morris and Jacqueline Stewart in New Haven, CT. A graduate of Wilbur Cross High School, Deidre went on to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 25 years. Deidre was adored by her patients and praised by staff for her cheerfulnes, dedication, and attention to their health care needs. Deidre’s presence was known before you saw her, because you heard her first. As a young child, she awoke early in the morning to clap her hands and sing; her love of Gospel music and God’s Word remained a constant inspiration. Deidre was a dedicated member of Varick AME Zion Memorial Church, where she sat on the Usher Board and was a member of the choir. In conversation, you could expect a jolt of laughter, a feeling of warmth, and a greeting of “Hello Darling”. Affectionately known as “Lady D”; she was stubborn but truly one of the kindest people you could ever meet. A fiercely loyal and joyful friend to all who had the blessing of knowing her. Deidre was a fan of Wheel of Fortune, Judge Judy, and Reality TV shows, but her ultimate joy came from being “Aunt DeeDee” to her nieces and nephews. She saw them daily, taught them how to drive, and spoiled them by running to their every beck and call. Deidre is survived by her Stepfather, Timothy Allen; Sisters’, Nakia Stewart, and Norvie Frasier; Brothers’, Andre Allen Sr., and T’Quan Frasier; God-Brother, Jerome Goforth; Nieces’, Keivonna Stewart-White, Hernija Bellamy, Gernae Taylor, Stevanah Hicks, Shirley Lawal, Dior Frasier, Delegare Frasier, Rondrea Allen, Timesha McDonald, and Bella McDonald; Nephews’, Geron Taylor, Timothy McDonald, Jr., T’Quan Frazier, Jr., and Dior Frasier; Great Nieces’, Jayla Strickland, Niyalee Delon, Dreyonna Allen, Jaslyn McDonald, and Mya McDonald; Great Nephew, Marvion Ogman; Ex Husband, Zephrey McKenzie, and a host of Family and Friends that loved her dearly. Deidre is predeceased by her Parents; Maternal Grandparents, Frank Sr., and Annie Bell Stewart; Paternal Grandparents, Norvie and Alan Morris, Sr., Brother Timothy McDonald, Sr., and Nephew, Edward Stewart-Booker.
