Derrick Dixon 58, of New Haven, CT departed his life on January 22, 2022. He was born on August 1,1963, at Grace New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. He was educated in the New Haven Public School System. Derrick took pride in working for the City of New Haven, Yale University and finally retiring from St.Raphael’s Hospital.

He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor.  He truly brought the life to the party.

Derrick was beloved by everyone who met him; a great husband, a fantastic father, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin, and friend.  No matter the circumstance you’d always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Derrick did while you were with him as he scratched his scratch off tickets.

Derrick is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Marlene Woods Dixon of New Haven, his son Andre Woods and  daughter Kisha Woods both from New Haven. He is survived by his mother Margie Dixon of New Haven, brothers James and Jessie Dixon of New Haven, his sister Joy Conyers of New Haven, Brother- in- Law Malik Lorenzo Woods of Hamden, sister- in- laws Beverly, Elaine, Lisa and Patricia Woods of New Haven. He leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren Jayvias Patterson, Kiara Moore, of New Haven, Andre Woods Jr., Tyonna Woods,  Makayla Woods, Brianna Woods, 2 bonus grandkids Naszire and Mason Williams of Hamden,CT. He also leaves to cherish the beloved family dog Cali and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by his father James “Jay” Dixon, maternal grandparents Willie Carr Sr., Emily Atkinson Carr, paternal grandparents Annias Dixon, Lottie Fleming Dixon and brother Audie Dixon. Derrick loved deeply and we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.

A celebration of Derrick’s life will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11am at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular, Hamden. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
