The family wants to thank everyone for your continued support and prayers following the passing of Donald Hayre. The Hayre family lost one of its anchors, one of our foundational supports. He was extremely talented. He was an outstanding cook. He also had an amazing singing voice. He was trained  professionally and appeared in a number of local theatrical productions as well as being a member of several singing organizations, which included his church choir and the Waterbury Chorale. In addition he was a very bright man who was an avid reader and could carry on a thought-provoking conversation with a person on a multitude of topics. He loved studying astronomy and owned several telescopes. Donald had a terrific sense of humor. He was a humble and unassuming man who would quietly go about his business. If someone needed his help and support, he would simply provide it without saying a word to anyone. He was a very principled man and extremely committed to his family. Donald served in the Army right after finishing high school and was in Korea at the time the war ended in July 1953. He was simply a hero. He was simply his son’s hero. They are so blessed and privileged to be able to call themselves his son and family. He was truly a beautiful man.
