Dora L. Smith

Dora L. (Edwards) Smith, age 88, of New Haven, entered into eternal life on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at her home. She was born on April 14, 1929 in Winterville, NC, the daughter of the late Gus and Laura Edwards. The loving wife of the late Roy Smith Sr. for 57 years. She leaves behind one son Roy Jr. (Sonje), two daughters Darlene and Sandra, one special niece Ivory, one sister Gracie Mae Norris, 5 grandchildren Darrell, Chanise, Chayla, Roy (L.J.), and Margaret Sexton (Thomas), one great granddaughter Jessica, three great great grandchildren Carter, Nina, and Miles. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and many other family members. Predeceased by one great granddaughter Saniya and 14 siblings. Mother Smith was a very active member of Pitts Chapel Church Home Mission for many years.

A Celebration of Dora’s life will be held on Tuesday October 24, 2017 in Colonial, 86 Circular Ave Hamden at 11 O’clock. A gathering of family and friends will be held in Colonial from 10-11am. Interment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
