Doris M. Perry, 101, of New Haven, Connecticut, entered into eternal rest on November 22, 2025. Born on July 13, 1924, to the late Dorothy and John Eldridge, Doris lived a long, full, and beautiful life surrounded by the love of her family and her Brookside community. She was cherished by all who knew her.
Doris was a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker who took great pride in caring for her children and grandchildren—many of whom she helped raise through years of babysitting, supporting school activities, attending graduations, and cheering at football games. She was known for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family.
A talented cook and baker, Doris was especially famous for her sweet potato pies. She enjoyed watching “The Golden Girls” with her granddaughters and never missed her favorite soap operas or an episode of “Family Feud,” especially when Steve Harvey was on. She also loved music, with favorites including “Me and Mrs. Jones” and the timeless hymn “Amazing Grace.”
Doris leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Benis Perry, Ronnie Perry (Debbie), Randy Perry, and Guy Perry, all of Hamden, Connecticut; and Brett Perry (Antoinette) of New Haven, Connecticut. She also leaves her daughters: Cheryl Perry, Denise Frost of Hamden, Connecticut, and Benita Perry (Travis) of New Haven, Connecticut; as well as her sister-in-law, Phyllis Eldridge. Doris was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Benis Perry; her parents, Dorothy and John Eldridge; her brothers, Robert Eldridge and John Eldridge; her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Perry; her granddaughter, Breyen Perry; and her sisters-in-law, Marion Reis and Dorothy Earl. Doris will be truly missed, and her legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will continue to inspire all who had the blessing of knowing her.
A celebration of Doris's life will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden CT, 06514.
