Dorothea, affectionately known by her family and friends as Peaches, 67, of New Haven, CT passed away peacefully on September 8th in her home surrounded by her husband and children.

Peaches was born on June 29, 1955, to Catherine and Robert Johnson in New Haven, CT. She was a lifelong resident of New Haven, graduating Lee High School in 1974. Soon after graduating, Peaches began her career at St. Raphael’s as a housekeeper. While at St. Raphael’s she transitioned into various roles until she retired as a clinical tech in 2020 from what is now, Yale New Haven Hospital. Her time spent at St. Raphael’s proved to be more than just work. Peaches met the love of her life Stanley, in 1975. They married in 1977 and were inseparable for the next 45 years.  Over the years, Peaches and Stanley enjoyed traveling around the country, vacations to Caribbean islands, trying new restaurants, and watching movies and shows.

Peaches was a gentle and family-oriented woman who enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. Her love was felt through her passion for cooking. Peaches was known for her holiday meals and delicious banana pudding and pies. Her cooking will surely be missed!  Peaches loved her fur-babies Micki and Bella, casino trips to Mohegan Sun with girlfriends, scratch off tickets, and playing Candy Crush games usually while enjoying a coffee and a Misty menthol cigarette.

Peaches is survived by her husband Stanley; children Jamar (Elva), Tasheen, Phyllis, and Stanley Jr. (CeShawnia); grandchildren Ashley (Leon), Jamaira, Alexander, Gabriele, and Isaiah; siblings Roberta and Robert; and fur-baby Bella; and a host of other close family and friends. Peaches is predeceased by her parents Catherine and Robert Johnson; and fur-baby Micki.

Visitation is between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. The celebration of life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on September 16, 2022, at Colonial Funeral Home located at 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT 06514. Burial will follow in the McWilliams Family Plot in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
