Dorothy Lee Bost (McGraw) (March 24,1935-December 15,2024)

Dorothy Lee Bost was a beautiful, strong woman that raised seven children, countless grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Outside of the family she raised, Dorothy has touched many lives with her compassion and giving nature. She went home peacefully to the Lord in her West Haven home, that she has resided in for 40 years, on December 15, 2024

Born in Macon, GA in 1935 to the late Westley Foster and Daisy Foster Allen, Dorothy made her way to New Haven, CT at the age of 3 and has resided in the state since. Dorothy graduated from James Hillhouse High School in 1953. Following her graduation, Dorothy worked in several different roles. Some of her most notable positions were for the State of CT as an Executive Secretary, a Secretary for Newhallville Teen Center in New Haven, an Assistant at Adult Day Care Center in West Haven, and running her own licensed child day care center as well. Anyone who met Dorothy could attest to her sweet, caring nature.

Dorothy’s siblings include Barbara Brown (Craig) and her special sister-in-law Joanne Foster. Dorothy also leaves behind seven children, Mark McGraw (Gail), Michael McGraw, Deborah Moye, Janet Flynn (Michael), Crystal O’Brien (Robert), and Rosalee Williamson (Manuel). Dorothy had 27 Grandchildren, 46 Great-Grandchildren, and 9 Great-Great Grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Bernard McGraw, her brothers Thomas and Frederick Foster, and her son-in-law Gregory Moye.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden CT. A viewing will be held from 10-11am with a service to follow at 11am. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
