Ms. Dorothy Shaw

Ms. Dorothy Shaw, age 74, died peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Ct on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 with her children and grandchildren by her side. Born in Kingstree, SC on July 9, 1945 to the late Cisro Scott and Dorothy Scott Ellis. Dorothy married John Shaw in 1964 before settling in New Haven Ct. she later moved to Boston, MA in 1974, returning home to Connecticut in 1999. She was a licensed cosmetologist for many years. Dorothy birthed five children but was a mother to many. She was passionately referred to as “MA” by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her four children, Valerie Shaw, Meriden, Ct. Vanessa Johnson (Gary), Brockton, MA, LaShaun Shaw, Marlborough, MA and Sherman Morant, Boston MA. Seventeen grandchildren, (Jamall, Michael, Octavia, Marquise, Tiffanee, Dajuan, Maureis, Keyon, Sayvon, Darius, Danyelle, Devon, Kenny, Marcel, Keni, Jaden, and Praise), fourteen great grands, and a host of family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Anthony Shaw, brothers Earl and, Johnny A. Ellis and special friend Coye L. Jacobs.

A Celebration of Ms. Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday October 25, 2019 at Colonial Funeral Home, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT at 11am. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com
