In 1968 Dorris migrated from Jamaica, West Indies, to the United States. She was a nanny for several families for many years in Manhattan, New York. Then she became a CNA at Haym Solomon Nursing home for the Aged in Brooklyn, NY for 9 ½ years. Dorris moved to New Haven, CT in the early 90’s where she was a business owner and a part time worker at the Willows Nursing Home in Amity, CT.
She leaves to cherish her memory – 2 brothers, Viril Cameron (Eula), Owen Ramsay (Joyce), Sister Hima Patterson, daughter, Mercedes Drummonds, and her son, Michael Scott.
She leaves behind her five precious living Grand Kids, Petal Godfrey, Keisha Godfrey, Tynicha Drummonds, Shimara Drummonds, Michael Scott, and Gailynn “Sparkle” Reynolds.
Dorris also leaves 15 Great Grands, and 9 Great Great Grands. As well as a host of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews that she loved dearly. She leaves behind her dear Cousins Clinton Green (Rita), & Violet Mercury,
Doris was preceded in death by her father, Ashley Cameron and her mother, Anita Swaby, daughter, Patricia Armstrong, son, Boy Blue Campbell, Granddaughter, Sheemica Drummonds, and a host of cousin’s and other family members.
The family offers their heartfelt thanks to everyone who provided emotional and practical support to us at this difficult time. The family is truly grateful for your support.
