Douglas Paschal
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Paschal, who received his wings on February 4, 2025, at the age of 83.
Douglas was born on September 11, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to William Paschal and Ruby Daniels. Douglas resided for many years in the Bronx, NY, New Haven, CT and Smyrna, GA and returned back to New Haven, CT where he fully lived out the remainder of his years. He received his education in Catholic Schools in Philadelphia, PA and the Bronx, NY. Douglas worked in his early career at the New Haven Coat Factory and was also a support to many family and friends taking care of his nieces, nephews and neighboring children.
Douglas had a profound passion for birds and a “green thumb” where he was able to grow the most beautiful plants. He was very giving and caring to all who were blessed to encounter him and he could make a mean baked macaroni and cheese.
Douglas was a devoted brother, uncle and friend. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, William Paschal and Ruby Daniels, his sister, Lynn White and his niece, Carmen Lilly-Jones . He is survived by his sister Debby (Ron) Lilly, his brother Steven (Sandra) Bates, his nephews: Todd (Audrey) Berthelot-Hill and Kyle Lilly, his nieces: Laurie (Juqurry) Armstrong, Meesa Bates and Stephanie Bates, his great nephews: Etienne

A celebration of Douglas’ life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 9am to 10:30am at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing in Colonial from 8-9am. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
