Eartha Mae Nicholson

Eartha Mae Nicholson, age 70 entered eternity on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut after an extended illness.

Eartha Mae Nicholson was born to Hezekiah Downing Sr. and Carrie Downing (Wise) in Accomack County, Virginia on July 9, 1954.

Eartha Mae Nicholson grew up in Vineland, New Jersey before she moved to New Haven, Connecticut in the 80’s.  Eartha worked as a CNA at Arden House in Hamden, Connecticut for many years along with her husband Bernard Lee Nicholson, Sr.

Eartha was predeceased by both of her parents and her oldest brother Hezekiah Downing Jr, her sister in law Mary Emma Downing, her nephew Hezekiah Downing III, Her Niece Lynette Smith and her nephew Robert Mills.

Eartha is survived by her husband of 50 years Bernard Lee Nicholson, Sr and their kids Lorraine Marie StClair (Jamel) and Bernard Lee Nicholson Jr (Lear) and her siblings Robert Lee Downing (Loretta), Lorraine Lemon (David), Samuel James Downing and Ashley Downing Burton (Karon), and grandkids David L. Player Jr, Quensheta L. Murphy and Tamia S. Kisbert (Sean) and her great grandkids DeSean A. Kisbert and Isaiah M. Kisbert.  .  She is also survived by a whole host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who loved and adored her.

Eartha was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt,.  She was a fun person who spoke her mind but had a very good heart and will always be missed and never forgotten.
