Eddie Lee Oglesby departed this life on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at home. He was born on July 7, 1963, in Asheville, North Carolina, to his proud parents, James and Willie Mae Oglesby. Eddie received his education in the Asheville public school system. During his early teenage years, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was lovingly raised by his uncle and aunt, Rev. Malvin and Evelyn Linsey, and continued his schooling there. As a young adult, Eddie returned to Asheville to reconnect with his parents and siblings. Eddie Lee moved back to Atlanta in 2021 and finally In September 2024, relocated to Hamden, Connecticut, where he resided with his sister, Pastor Doe Haywood, until his passing.
Eddie Lee was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He was known for his quick wit and his talent for humor, always finding ways to bring laughter to those around him. His presence ensured that there was never a dull moment, and many fond memories were made filled with joy and uncontrollable laughter. Eddie Lee also had a passion for food; he loved to eat and took great pleasure in preparing meals for himself and, on occasion, forothers. He was considered a handyman for all seasons and a jack of all trades, though he never claimed mastery over any single one. From an early age, Eddie Lee developed a resourceful nature and learned the art of “the hustle,” energetically using his streetwise sense and abilities to find various ways to make a living. Although some opportunities were not always favorable, his resilience and the Grace of God enabled him to navigate life’s many challenges.
