Edith B. Shamsid-Deen

Edith B. Shamsid-Deen transitioned peacefully on August 28, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born on January 28, 1948 in Smyrna, Tennessee to the late Samuel C. Gregory and Velva Charleston Gregory. She attended Norwalk Community College and retired from Stamford Housing Authority after many years of service. She brought much love and joy to those who knew her. Her commitment to Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church included; Manager/Treasurer of Faith Tabernacle Church Federal Credit Union, Faith Credit Union Board of Directors, Officer, Trustee Ministry, Church Nominating Committee, Inspirational Choir, Voices of Faith, Women Circle Inn Ministry and Drama Ministry. Her legacy of love will be treasured by her husband; Edward A. R. (Sanders) Shamsid-Deen, her daughter; Aaliyah Shamsid-Deen, her son; Ismail Shamsid-Deen, Sr., five adored grandchildren; Amani Thornton, Diamond Shamsid-Deen, Jahmani Thornton, Nasir Thornton and Ismail Shamsid-Deen, Jr., two sisters; Shakura “Diane” Bàth and Elder Sandra Worsley, Sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Deacon James R. Sanders, Funeral Director of Waterbury, godchildren; Keisha Nelson and Leroy Gee, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Stevie Gregory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 am at Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 29 Grove St., Stamford, CT.
