Edward Joseph “Eddie” Cavanaugh, 78, of Hamden, Connecticut, passed away on March 18, 2026.
Born on July 17, 1947, in New Haven, Connecticut, Eddie was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Eli Whitney Technical High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career as an electrician. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Eddie was the beloved husband of Rosalie, his high school sweetheart, for 56 years, a testament to a lifetime of love and partnership. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Nadina and Carlena, and a cherished father-in-law to Sergio. He was also a proud and loving grandfather to Christopher and Liliana, who brought him immense joy.
Eddie was known for his strong work ethic and the deep love he had for his family. He spent his life providing for and supporting those he cared about most. He was also known for encouraging his children and grandchildren to reach for every opportunity, often reminding them that “the worst that someone can say is no.”
In his free time, he enjoyed working on classic cars, a passion that reflected both his skill and patience. He especially loved watching his grandson Christopher play baseball when he was younger and attending his granddaughter Liliana’s cheer competitions, always showing up with pride and support. He also took great pride in marching in Memorial Day parades, representing his fellow veterans and honoring those who served.
Above all, Eddie will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he be at peace in the arms of the angels, and may his rest be as gentle as his heart.
