Ms. Elizabeth Sears, age 82, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was called to her eternal rest on Friday, December 8, 2023. Elizabeth was born in Gatesville, North Carolina on August 13, 1941, to the late Raymond Sr. and Lessie (Blanchard) Sears.
“Lizzie” as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1959 in Gatesville, North Carolina. Shortly after her arrival in Waterbury, she began her career at Capri Lingerie, where she worked as a seamstress. After many years of service, Lizzie retired and worked part-time in home healthcare where she developed a special relationship for the people she cared for.
Ms. Sears lived in Waterbury for more than 64 years and was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending the Sears, Roscoe/Rascoe & Hayes family reunions, baking, and traveling. She was a great lover of sports, and a huge fan of the New England Patriots Football. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, and church. Lizzie will be forever remembered by all for her warmth and sweet beautiful smile.
Lizzie is survived by her brother, Ernest Sears of Waterbury, CT; three sisters, Virginia Pruden and Yvonne Thompson, both of Waterbury, CT, Lessie Rae Smith of Gatesville, NC, a god daughter, Sandra Porter and many other relatives and friends. Ms. Sears was predeceased by two of her brothers; Raymond Sears Jr., and Shelton Sears and two sisters; Bernice Knight and Garnie Mae Smith and her godson Delton Smith Jr.
A celebration of Elizabeths’s life will be held on Monday December 18, 2023 at 11am at Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury Street, Waterbury, CT 06702. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Interment to follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Colonial Funerals, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury and James R. Sanders, Funeral Director.
