Ella Langford Griffin was born to the late Jeffie and Annie Rich Langford on November 25th, 1946, in Shorter, Alabama. Ella, attectionally known as Ella Bell to those closest to her, gained her heavenly wings on November 12th, 2025. This strong willed and spiey God fearing woman peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home with loved ones surrounding her
At an early age Ella and her family moved from Alabama to New Haven, CT, where she gained a village of family and friends. Ella was proud of her community, where she would proudly state. I'm from the Vale, never ran and never will" Ella graduated from James Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT, and later continued her education to become a CNA in various health care. facilities in the New Haven area
Ella was a strong, loving, and caring mother grandmother, great grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She loved to provide motherly advice to all who would listen, even when you did not want the advice, she made sure her words traveled to your heart and soul. Ella loved spending time with her family especially Baby Rhylee Bell.
Ella's cherished legacy and memories will live on through her son, Derrick (Carmen) Coggins of New Haven, CT, and daughter Tywanda (Tracey) Coggins, also of New Haven, CT. She is also remembered by grandchild Derrick Coggins Jr., and six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. Additionally, Ella is remembered by her cherished niece, Adria Bellamy, her godson, Solomon Maye; her god sister, Hattie Hammett; special niece Kasey Langford, special nephew Darrell Bellamy Jr., special cousin Eudora Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ella was predeceased by her parents, Jeffie and Annie Rich Langford; her grandparents, Jeff and Fronnie Langford, and Samuel and Laura Boyd; her sister, Verdell Langford; and her grandson, Tyrone Moss Jr
Ella's life will be honored with a celebration at Pitts Chapel Unified Baptist Church, located at 64 Brewster Street in New Haven, Connecticut, on Friday, November 21, 2025. Viewing from 10 am to 11 am and service at 11 am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven, Connecticut. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com.
