Miss Ellen Marie Epps age 75 passed away Friday May 15th 2026 at home peacefully, due to sudden illness. Ellen also known as ReRe, was born April 29th 1951 in Dutchess Poughkeepsie NY. A daughter of the late Hazel Marie Epps and the late James Epps. Ellen was a resident of Waterbury CT for over 70 years and was well known for her talented singing voice. After graduating from Wilby high school, she shared her gift with the world gracing stages with her soulful voice locally and abroad and performed with various bands at many venues. she was a background singer for the late Joe Frazier at a point in time and once landed a spot on the Jerry Lewis telethon show. This is just a few of the many highlights of her musical journey. She loved to sing but more importantly she touched every heart in the room, this was her signature style. Throughout the years she worked for multiple companies one of those companies was the Waterbury Republican a newspaper company and later ended employment at Duracell, a battery company before her retirement. Ellen is survived by two daughters, India Hazette Jones, Jonquil Marie Epps, and two sons Travis O'Neill Epps and Jade Christopher Jones, all from Waterbury CT. Also survived by two siblings, Geraldine Epps Pinkston, of Spring Valley NY, and Lubby Epps Powell of Fairfield CT. she also leaves a number of grand children, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends. She is predeceased by three brothers, Clarence Edward Pittman the 1st, James Curtis Epps,Keith Epps, and one sister Linda Darnell Davis Goodman, all from Waterbury CT

A celebration of Ellen's life will be held on Saturday, May 30th at Colonial Funerals of Waterbury 270 West Main Street Waterbury CT 06702. Viewing will take place from 10-11 AM with a service to follow at 11 AM. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
