Missionary Erminie Rebecca Jane Williams was born on April 11, 1927 to the late Wesley & Mary E. Dixon in Boston, Massachusetts. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 17, 2022. Erminie Williams came to know the Lord at nine years of age and in 1951 was married to the late Elder Christopher W. Williams, Sr., who was very active in the founding of several churches.
Missionary Erminie Williams worked at Mass General as a nurse’s aide and in 1968 when she and her husband moved to CT, she worked at retail stores. She received a certificate from a Data Institute Business School in Hartford, CT for computer classes. This allowed her to get a job doing data entry. Missionary Williams was also skilled with painting and making hand-crafted items.
In addition, Missionary Erminie Williams preached, played the piano, and assisted her husband in pastoral work. She later became a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ in Hartford where she was a Mother of the church, a substitute Sunday School Teacher, and assisted with women’s baptism. She was also a member of the Mother’s Board and the Christian Women’s Council (CWC).
Missionary Williams lived a full and active life with her church and her family. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Cheryl Clemmons (David), Marie Harrison (Samuel), Charlene Lindsey (James), and Francine Williams; one son, Christopher Williams, Jr. (Alison); an adopted spiritual daughter, Sytrina Pruden; twelve grandchildren, Erika Williams, David T. Clemmons (Migdalis), Sarah Langley, Chad Baker, Dwight Clemmons (Nia), Charles Baker, Charlton Lewis (Stacey), Jasmine Baker, Joshua Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Andrea Lewis, and Christopher Noel Williams; and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.
Missionary Erminie Williams was predeceased by seven brothers, Williams L. Dixon, James W. Dixon, John H. Dixon, Joseph N. Dixon, Edward S. Dixon, Charles V. Dixon, Paul A. Dixon and one sister, Vivian E. Chancy.
A celebration of Erminie’s life will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 11am at Bible Gospel Center, 143 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
