Gail E (Mather) Young

Gail E. (Mather) Young, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 17,2024 at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT.  She was born in Arlington, MA on December 7, 1939.  She was predeceased by her parents William W. and Josephine (Stark) Shiebler, and Wallace A. Mather.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Russell J. Young to whom she was married on October 3, 2013, and her three daughters: Michelle Mann and her husband David Rupert of Merritt Island, FL, Elizabeth Mann and her husband Keith Bruce of Charlestown, RI, and Candace Jodice and her husband Anthony of Narragansett, RI; her grandchildren Julia (Roche) O’Koren and her husband Joe of Franklin, MA, Adam Roche and his wife, Amanda of Uxbridge, MA, Delaney (Jodice) Gordon and her husband Alex of Irving, TX, and Kaleigh Jodice of Seattle, WA.  She was also blessed with three beautiful great-grandchildren Aria O’Koren, Hayden Roche and Mia Roche.

Gail was a member of the first graduating class (1958) at King Philip High School in Wrentham, MA and received an Accounting degree from Lasell College in Newton, MA.  She spent most of her career in Finance, working for Codex in Mansfield, MA for many years and retiring from Deloitte as a software consultant in the early 2000’s to help care for her grandchildren.  Gail raised her family in Norton, MA and later lived in North Chelmsford, MA, Mansfield, MA, Murphy, NC, Williamston, NC and finally in Winsted, CT.  Gail loved playing games, doing anything creative (scrapbooking, knitting, painting, etc.), and was known for her sense of humor – always spending time laughing with her friends and family.   Gail was devoted member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Wrentham, MA

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for taking wonderful care of Gail.  Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
