It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved George Odian Blake, affectionately called “Jah B” and “Teacher”. George passed away on Sunday August 25, 2024, at the Smilow Hospital, in New Haven, Connecticut. He was born on January 11, 1949 to Agatha Hewitt and Samuel Blake in Allsides, Trelawny, Jamaica. He was 75 years old at the time of his death. George was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was cherished by his wife Ena Fisher-Blake, children; Michael, Cleopatra, Georgia, Christopher, Marcia, and eight grandchildren other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
George was known for his exceptional qualities as a kind, loving and gentle spirit. He was a farmer for over 40 years and an avid businessman. Not only was he committed to his family, he was a dedicated community organizer and leader who made significant contributions to his community through Grassroots Activism. He provided jobs for many community members and countless opportunities for them to elevate themselves. Through his grassroots advocacy he demonstrated the strength and impact collective power can achieve. He loved life and embodied everything that was pure and true. He was a sports enthusiast with a deep passion for the game of cricket and shared his deep knowledge and love for the game with everyone who knew him. He also loved music and bonded with his loved ones through it. George brought tremendous joy and warmth to the lives of those around him and will always be remembered for his love for life and the kindness he’s shown to the countless people who have come in contact with him.
George leaves behind his loving wife Ena Fisher-Blake, five children; Michael Blake, Cleopatra Blake, Georgia C. Blake, Christopher O. Blake, Marcia P. Blake, eight grandchildren; Dwayne Blake, Vishaoun Daley, Lashawn Daley, Christopher Blake Jr., Elijah Blake, Shantinique S. Virgo, Tashna U. Davis, and Tashan E. Davis.
For your thoughtfulness: We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and the kindness we have received following the passing of our beloved George. Your heartfelt messages, generous acts of kindness, and presence during this difficult time have been a great source of comfort to us.

A celebration of George’s life will be will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue Hamden CT. A viewing will take place from 10am-11am. Service at 11am. Burial to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. All who knew George are welcome to join us in celebrating his life and sharing in the stories and memories that he left behind.
