George Frank Coggswell

George F. Coggswell, Jr. (Beetle), 84 of Hamden, CT passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 22, 1942 in New Haven, CT to the late George F. Coggswell, Sr., and the late Leah V. Hawley. He was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School and went on to serve in the Military in Okinawa, Japan. He worked at Yale as an orderly for many years. As a young man he enjoyed the hobby of assembling model cars and displaying them. George loved getting together with family and friends for cookouts, listening to music, going to concerts as well as singing and harmonizing with family and whoever wanted to join in. George looked forward to meeting his friend Lance for coffee every day. No matter where George went, he made lots of friends and always made you laugh. He had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

Survived by his loving siblings, sisters Barbara Robinson, Gloria Coggswell, Mary Jackson, and his brothers Bruce Coggswell and Lester Coggswell and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Brown.

A celebration of George's life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10am-12pm at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. The family requests no flowers. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
