In Loving Memory of Grant Douglas Durant Jr.

Grant Douglas Durant Jr., affectionately known and loved by many, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026. He was born on July 28, 1969, and spent his life bringing joy, laughter, and love to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Grant was the beloved son of Grant Durant Sr. of Fulton County, Georgia and Shereanne Durant Kelley of New Haven, Connecticut. He is survived by his loving sisters, Cherise Decuir Durant of Clarkston, Georgia; Kaima Allen of Atlanta, Georgia; and Nicole Durant of Meriden, Connecticut; and his brother, Eric Durant of New Haven, Connecticut. He also leaves behind his special friend, best buddy, and cousin, Kobe Shaw, along with several cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Grant was preceded by his maternal grandmother, Marion Thompson; maternal great-grandmother, Mary B. White; maternal grandfather, Albert Decuir; paternal grandmother, Sarah Durant; and paternal grandfather, Nathaniel Durant.

Grant attended Celentano Special Education School and proudly graduated in 1989. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unforgettable smile. Grant loved being around people and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His happiness was contagious, and those around him could not help but smile when he smiled. He had a loving nature that made him special to everyone who knew him.

One of Grant's greatest passions was dancing. He loved music and could often be found dancing with a smile on his face. Whether at family gatherings or simply enjoying his favorite songs, Grant's joy shines through every dance move. He was also a devoted and faithful Atlanta Falcons fan, proudly supporting his team throughout every season.

Grant was truly a blessing to his family and friends. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he returned that love wholeheartedly. His warm heart, joyful spirit, and beautiful smile will forever remain in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Although Grant's physical presence is no longer with us, the love, happiness, and countless memories he shared will continue to live in the hearts of his family and friends.

Grant will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A celebration of Grant’s life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 3pm at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing in Colonial from 2pm-3pm. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
