In Loving Memory of

Gwendolyn (Wright) Ross

April 4, 1963 – June 28, 2026

With profound sadness and unwavering love, we announce the passing of Gwendolyn (Wright) Ross of Hamden, Connecticut, who peacefully departed this life on June 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on April 4, 1963, in New Haven, Connecticut, she was the beloved daughter of the late Theoplis Adoris Wright, Sr. and Theresa P. Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Ross, and her sisters, Nettie and Alice Wright.

If you knew Gwendolyn, you knew she never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, loved, and at home. Whether through a warm conversation, or encouraging word, she cared for others with genuine kindness. Her fried chicken, spaghetti, and infamous peanut butter and jelly sandwiches became cherished family favorites and lasting expressions of her love.

Known for her quick wit, infectious laugh, and playful sense of humor, Gwendolyn found joy in bringing smiles to those around her. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loyal friend, and passionate fan of the San Francisco 49ers. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family and created memories that will be cherished for generations.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three loving sons, Andre Antar Wright of Bronx, New York, Stephen Aaron Wright and Timothy John Wright, both of New Haven, Connecticut; her four beloved grandchildren, Kani Eerin Wright, Kymere Nasir Wright, Jamaris Theresa Wright, and Skylar Christina Wright; her brother, Theoplis Adoris Wright, Jr. (Donna) of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, dear friends, neighbors, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, Connecticut 06514. Calling hours start 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
