Harriet “Bootise” “Myers” Holmes also known as Mom and Nana by those who meant the most to her; was born in Manhattan, New York on Mother’s Day May 13, 1945. She entered eternal rest to receive her reward on January 17,2020. She was a loving mother, home maker, and an interior decorator. From reupholstering furniture to creating the most beautiful floral center pieces; her unique style always stole the show. Also, she was an amazing cook, her potato salad was always the requested dish at every family gathering. As an ordained church mother, she was loved by many. She was generous, supportive, and always had an encouraging word. She always lends a helping hand without limitation. Her unshakable faith in God was evident by her effectual and fervent prayers. She knew the source of her strength. Harriet was predeceased by parents George and Tommie Myers. She was also predeceased by siblings: Thomas (Sonny) Myers, Robert (Bobby) Myers, John David Myers, Diane “Pat” Myers, Walter Dean Myers, Gertrude (Myers), Geraldine Jones, Douglas Myers, Viola Law, Jane (Myers). Survived by siblings: Sandra “Gloria” Conyers, Horace “Buddy” Myers, Celeste Dobbs, George “Mickey” Myers, Imogene Keys, Ethel Williams. Survived by children: Francina “Michelle” and spouse Mike Long; LaTonya “Toni” and spouse Ken Kinsey; Sonny and spouse Jeannine Holmes; Jerneil Myers and Ricacha. Survived by grandchildren: Terrel Holmes, YoLanda and spouse James Gore, Michael Holmes, Andrea Long, Elijah Long, Brittanie Long, Kendria Kinsey, Keiana Kinsey, Tatiana Holmes, Juan, Josiah, Jerneil Seth Myers. Survived by great grandchildren: Michael Carter Holmes, London Gore, Ivory Long, Christian Long. We were blessed to have loved and learned many valuable lessons from Harriet “Bootise” “Myers” Holmes. She is gone but never forgotten.

A celebration of Harriet’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury St. at 11am. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Condolence may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
