Helen Myrick

On Friday, May 3, 2024, our heavenly Father called His daughter, our beloved Helen Myrick home to eternal rest after a brief illness. Helen was born January 4, 1936 to the late Benjamin and Eldora Vann Myrick in Hertford County, North Carolina (NC). In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Alease Beale and brothers, Robert, Fred, David and Clarence Myrick. Helen, “Lil Sister” as she affectionately known, was educated in the Nansemond County Public School System. After high school, she relocated to Hartford, Connecticut (CT) and later moved to Waterbury, CT., where she resided until her earthly journey came to an end. At an early age, Helen gave her life to the Lord and joined Mill Neck Baptist Church in Como, NC. She later became a member of Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury, CT. Throughout her career, Helen worked in various positions. She found her passion employed at Muriel H. Moore Child Development Center in the position of Foster Grandparent where she worked for over twenty years. Helen was known for her kind, fun-loving and encouraging spirit. She was always sharply dressed as a result of her favorite pass time, shopping. She was the type of person that saw a need and no matter who you were, she was willing to help. Helen leaves to cherish her precious memories, one sister, Ruth Blizzard (Alexander), of Suffolk, Virginia, one aunt, Mildred Charity of Winton, NC, one sister-in-law, Thelma Myrick of Suffolk, Virginia, a sister-in- love, Evora Regis of Brockton, Massachusetts and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory, special cousins, Evangeline Butler and family, the Exchange Place Tower family and a special friend sister Patricia Blathers.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Friday 10, 2024 at 11am at Zion Baptist Church. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Burial to follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Funerals, 270 West Main Street Waterbury, CT and James R. Sanders, Funeral Director. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com
