Ionia "Kat" Robertson

Ionia "Kat" Robertson, spunky yet sweet beloved mother and grandmother peacefully passed away and went on to receive her inheritance from the Lord on January 2nd, 2026 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown CT, She was born December 10th 1948 in Chatham Virginia.

Ionia was the cherished mother of her daughter Lorraine James (Clarence)of Hamden CT, sons David Robertson (Angela) of Deltona Florida, Frederick Robertson of Hamden and Anthony Robertson of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

She was the precious grandmother of Lorina (Miguel), Le’andra, Lynette, Jasmine (KeithJr), Joshua, Zephania, David Jr, Mariyah and Jonathan. Great grand mother of Tobias, Isabell, Cameron, Kamiah, Penelope, and Kaleb, all who loved her dearly.

She is survived by her Mother Agnes Rudd of Bridgeport CT, Siblings Gladys Benerman (Milton), Robert Rudd (Claudia), Larry Rudd, Sandra Baskin, Jacqueline Killings (Tyrone). A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Predeceased by her Grand Parents Lillie and Robert Robertson, son Tony Robertson, siblings James Rudd, Evangeline Mckelton, Micheal Rudd and Kenneth Rudd.

Ionia lived a simple life, although she did not have the highest level of education, she sought wisdom and understanding of life through the word of God and attending church services when she could. She worked in housekeeping at hotels, dietary aid at Bridgeport Hospital and factory worker at Remington Arms.

Ionia had the heart of a giver so some of her greatest joys in life were helping to raise her grandchildren, making sure they always had a hot meal and refrigerator and cabinets full of food, also known for opening the doors of her home to those whom it could bless, always giving love, support, encouragement and protection to those God entrusted to her.

She was a strong woman of faith, enjoyed reading the Bible and singing old hymns. Her memory will forever be in the hearts of her family and loved ones.

A Celebration of Ionia's Life will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, Connecticut at 12pm (Noon). Viewing in Colonial from 11am-12pm. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com.
