Jacqueline “Lady J” Lee born October 16, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY to Brooker T. and Lula Mae Washington. Moved to Connecticut in 1974 shortly after her mother and sister arrived. Departed this life on Wednesday December 19,2018. She was preceded in death by her father Brooker T Washington Sr., daughter Valarie Lee, son Gordon Washington, sister Julia Gilliam and nephew Ronald Gilliam. Enjoyed life to to the fullest through simple pleasures; Playing cards, playing her “numbers” and scratch offs, talking on the phone, and mostly spending time with family and friends. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She leaves to cherish her memories: Children; Debra Bethea (Robert Bethea), Katherine Tinney (Eric Tinney), Anthony Brian Lee Washington (Sean Washington), Dajuan Mahorn, and Adarryl Mahorn; mother, Lula Mae Washington and siblings; Sandra Martin, Brooker T. “Butchie” Washington (Frankie Washington). 37 Grandchildren and a Host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Lady J’s life will be held on Friday January 11, 2019 at Colonial, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden at 11 O’clock. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
