Jamal Deshane Brooks

Jamal Deshane Brooks was born on April 26, 1992, in Harlem, New York, to his loving parents. He tragically passed away on March 23, 2024, in New London, Connecticut, at the age of 31. Jamal was a devoted father to his two sons, Liam and Hunter, and a cherished brother to Naomi Brooks, Marva, Juan, and Marlon Fredricks. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Donnette Brooks, and his grandmother, Nerrissa Brooks, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Jamal’s passion for welding led him to a fulfilling career as a Welder. He was known for his dedication and skill in his craft. Outside of work, Jamal had a diverse range of hobbies, including collecting fishes and coral, building a collection of hats, and indulging his love for cars, be it vintage, classic, or new.

In his leisure time, Jamal enjoyed watching anime, walking his dogs, exploring Japanese culture, and savoring Pho. Reggae music held a special place in his heart, but he appreciated all genres. His talents extended to baking, creating exotic dishes, and curating a collection of baseball caps. His love for movies was matched only by his enthusiasm for creating new pastries.

Jamal’s educational journey took him from Marine Time Elementary in The Bronx to Global High school and eventually to Northwood University in Palm Beach, Boca. His academic achievements were a source of pride for him and his family.

Jamal Deshane Brooks leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

A Celebration to honor and remember Jamal’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Colonial Funeral Home. 270 West Main Street, Waterbury at 11am. Visitation will be held from 10am-11am in Colonial Funeral Home. The compassionate staff at Colonial Funeral Home in Waterbury, Connecticut, will assist in guiding Jamal’s loved ones through this difficult time.
