James Walter Aiken, Jr was born on December 18, 1977 in New Haven, CT to James Aiken Sr and Chrystal Morgan-Aiken. James was schooled in the New Haven Public School system where he enjoyed playing basketball and football. He received his christian education at Agape Christian Center under the tutelage of Dr. Mattie Atkinson- Darden. James, affectionately known as Couche, Tex, Tank or Hussan was very family oriented, always willing to give a helping hand or a kind word. He was a dapper dresser and blessed with the gift of gab: he could talk a cat off a fish truck. James was charming, full of love and affection, a joy to be around.
James transitioned to eternal rest on October 28, 2021 in Greensboro, NC surrounded by family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents James Aiken, Sr. and Chrystal Morgan- Aiken. Paternal grandparents Walter and Luvenia Aiken. Maternal grandfather, Theodore Morgan, Jr.; Uncles: Frank D. Carr, Gary and Theodore (Teddy) Morgan, William Outlaw and cousin/brother Walter Teague, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories his children: Asia Gause, Jaylen Aiken, Dakota Spears, Myriah Aiken, and Myracle Aiken, extended family Aaliyah and Dashon Waddell, Shetta Moore and JJ Melton. Siblings: Shavonne Aiken, Tiquana Williams, Kyle Aiken, Candice Aiken- Tournas and Tiesheka Jones. Uncles Brian McKiver, Keith Aiken Aunts Pastor Jeanette Lawrence, Rhonda Outlaw, Kimberly Koonce and Debbie Williams. Special Aunt and Uncle Pastors Walter and Pamula Teague. A celebration of James’s will be held on Friday November 4, 2021 at 11am at New Light Holy Church, 198 Howard Avenue, New Haven. Viewing from 10-11am.
