In Loving Remembrance
James Walter Aiken was born on February 26, 1957 in New Haven, Connecticut to Mr. Walter Aiken and Mrs. Luvenia Aiken.
Affectionately known as “James”, “Jim” or “Yoyo” he attended school in New Haven, Connecticut and was a graduate of James Hill House High School.
James lived in New Haven for some time before moving to Atlanta, Georgia where he worked for Mitsubishi Motors, but his entrepreneur spirit would not let him stop there. James later moved back to New Haven, Connecticut where he became involved in real estate and started his own brokerage , Access Capital Mortgage Company . James spent most of his downtime with family, friends, and being a caregiver to his Uncle Fran. He loved watching his favorite pastime, basketball. James enjoyed the game so much that he even coached little league basketball team s. When James first became ill, he venture d to S outh Carolina to spend time with his family. D uring that time , he attended Lighthouse of Jesus Christ Church. While in South Carolina, he was sure to leave his unremarkable charm on everyone he met. He eventually moved back to Connecticut where he was a member of Pitts Chapel UFWB Church and later joined New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Deacon in training.
On the early morning of September 13, 2021, our beloved James answered God’s call to eternal rest, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. James was truly one of a kind, and he not only left his footprint on the world , but he also left them in our hearts.
He is preceded in his death by his father the late Mr. Walter Aiken, his mother the late Mrs. Luvenia Aiken and brother Mr. Frank D. Carr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, (sons) James Aiken Jr, Kyle Aiken, (daughters) Shavonne Aiken, Candice Aiken Tournas (Jason); 6 grandchildren; his siblings (brothers) Brian Aiken (Carol), Keith Aiken (Angela), (sisters) Elder Jeannette Lawrence (Herbert), Patty Williams; (Aunts) Geneva Walters (Nate), Danise McNeil (Deacon McNeil); a host of nieces and nephews; and a special companion Cynthia H arris Jackson .
A Celebration of James’ life will be held on Thursday September 23, 2021 at Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ at 11am., Viewing in Church from 9-11am, Burial will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park.
