James Bilal was born James Riggins to the late Ida Riggins and Henry Riggins in Brooklyn New York. He departed this life on November 13, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father Henry Riggins, his mother Ida Lee Riggins, his brother Edward Riggins and his sister Roslyn Riggins. He was also preceded by several of his children and grandchildren. They included: Yolanda Riggins, Amefika Cooper, Racquel Ebony Daniels, Trinity Washington, and Noah Muhammad.
Those left to cherish his memories are: Children: Marion Riggins, Randy Dismal, Valerie (Ali) Riggins, James Riggins, Roslyn Riggins, Nadine (Tommy) Washington, Oni (Obadiah) Muhammad and Tamu (Winfred) Rembert
Grandchildren: Rasheed Evans, Ismail Muhammad, Destiny Bilal, Gary Rembert, Namumba Santos, Nzinga Santos, Edgar Rembert, Nima Rembert Love Washington, Tommy Washington, Jarad Conrad, Terrence Fuller, Lashonda Dismal, Eric Harrison, Jayden Riggins, Justin Riggins, Kailah Riggins and Tiena Zieglar, Great grandchildren: Madison Serrano, Janelle Davis, Azriel Rembert, Jaimar Conrad, Awe Dionna Conrad, Azamat Conrad, Taliyah Fuller, Takema Fuller, Alayah Fuller, Zymiere Dismal, Kimora Lowery, Major Lowery, Eric Harrison Jr. Gregory Armstead Jr, Kylo Armstead and Malia Armstead.
He also touched the lives of special cousins Douglas (Sug), Daisy (Mamie) Hodges and a host of nieces, nephews and other cousins. Although he has many children and grandchildren. Central to his life and purpose was his youngest daughter Adilah Bilal. The sun rose and set on Adilah. The bond between them was extra special.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Visitation will begin from 10-10:30am with the Janazah prayer to start at 10:30am. Burial to follow at Hamden Plains Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
