Jannie M. Hurdle

On Saturday, March 27, 2021, God in his infinite wisdom, gave peace to our beloved Mrs. Jannie M. Hurdle.

Jannie was born October 24, 1944 to the late Addie Lewis and Leander Lewis in Clinton, North Carolina.

Jannie is predeceased by her husband Willie W. Hurdle, 5 brothers: Tommy Lee Lewis, Willie Lee Lewis, Robert Lee Lewis, James Lewis, Larry Lewis and one sister, Mrs. Virginia Lewis. Jannie was educated in Clinton, North Carolina’s school system. She worked in a pharmacy in Washington, DC. For some years before moving to Waterbury, CT where she lived until her passing.

Jannie was outspoken, outgoing, giving, loveable, and loving person. Everyone that knew her loved her. She loved to travel down to North Carolina to visit both sides of the family. Jannie was very family oriented and loved family gatherings. She loved playing bid whist, spades, and her drinks on deck. She was the QVC and HSN Queen. She would lie in bed flicking the tv back and forth between channels, ordering from both. Most of the things she owned from pots and pans, electronics, clothes, came from those two places. When she stepped out the hair was on point and she was dressed to impress.

Jannie leaves to cherish her loving memories to one brother, Willie Bronson of New Burgh, NY, one Stepdaughter, Mabel Perry (Lonzelle) of Middletown, CT, Robert “Peter” Smith of Tyner, NC. Honorary Children: Romeo Lewis, Juicy Reid-Stith, Adrienne Reid, and Brian “Pedro” Reid of CT., 7 Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special mention to her live in Caretaker and friend for 5 years, Jannie Cole.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday 17, 2021 at noon at Colonial Funerals, 270 West Main Street Waterbury Ct. James R. Sanders, funeral director. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
