Jerald Delgado (Jerry) was a vibrant soul, known for his humor, kindness, and infectious energy. An extrovert at heart, he had the unique ability to light up any room he entered, leaving behind memories filled with laughter and love.
Born to Leona Delgado and John Delgado Sr., Jerry was raised in Harlem, NY, and spent much of his childhood in Connecticut with his paternal family, building lifelong memories. He shared a close bond with his siblings—John Jr. (Johnny), Joann, and Randy—each relationship unique and deeply cherished. Jerry and Joann shared a special brother-and-sister bond filled with mutual respect, love, and understanding. Jerry especially loved bickering with his older brother Johnny, creating countless moments of joy that will forever be remembered by those who witnessed their playful exchanges. The youngest, Randy, passed away.
Jerry’s adventurous spirit led him to serve his country in the Navy, where he traveled the world and lived in various states, experiences he held dear. Jerry always knew God and studied his Bible faithfully. I n his later years, he found a spiritual home within his church, forming many meaningful bonds. On December 2nd, 2023, he made a profound commitment to his faith by dedicating his life to God through baptism. The Bible became his daily companion, offering him comfort and guidance.
Jerry was widowed by his beloved wife, Hope Delgado. Their love was a testament to the strength and depth of his character, and he carried her memory with him always.
Jerry was a man of many talents and passions. He had a deep love for music and was known for his signature dances, always eager to spread joy to those around him. His unique ability to ride a unicycle never failed to amaze and delight others. His career journey was as diverse as his interests, with roles that included serving as a vehicle aid at American Medical Response, a sales representative at Godiva Chocolate, a window distribution clerk at the United States Post Office, an administrative aide at Joan of Arc Junior High School, and a dedicated crossing guard.
Above all, Jerry was a loving father. His son and firstborn, Jerkeme, cherished him deeply, treasuring the lessons, wisdom, and boundless love his father imparted. Jasmine, his youngest daughter, adored him, and her face would light up with pure joy every time she saw him. In both of them, Jerry’s smile lives on, a lasting reflection of the profound love and light he brought into their lives.
Jerry’s love knew no bounds, extending unconditionally to his stepchildren, Charlene and Gregory, whom he embraced as his own with a full and open heart. He guided them with love, care and affection, creating bonds that were strong and deeply cherished. As a grandfather, he was unwaveringly devoted to Jetta, Jada, Jordin, and Courtney, enriching their lives with his deep wisdom, boundless warmth, and endless affection.
Jerry shared a special bond with his nephew Timothy, who not only loved his uncle deeply but also considered Jerry his best friend. Their close-knit relationship was a source of mutual happiness. Jerry’s niece, Angelica, brought immense joy to his life, even though they were separated by distance. He also had a deep connection with his cousins, Valerie Best and Robin Williams, who held an irreplaceable place in his heart. These relationships went beyond mere family ties; they were bonds of love and loyalty that Jerry cherished, reflecting his unwavering commitment to family, which he valued above all else.
Jerry’s warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and faith have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit lives on in the laughter, love, and faith he shared throughout his life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024 in Waterbury Shalom Seventh-day Adventist Church, 84 Crown Street, Waterbury, CT 06704 at 3pm. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com.
