Jocelyn Hernandez, lovingly known as “Joce,” passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2026, at the age of 23.
Born on October 18, 2002, to her parents Jacqueline Lopez and Ricardo Hernandez, Jocelyn grew up surrounded by love and family. She graduated from West Haven High School, where her vibrant personality and caring spirit left a lasting impression on those around her.
Jocelyn was known for her warm heart, infectious laugh, and the special ability to make others smile no matter the circumstance. Her kind spirit and loving personality created lasting connections with family, friends, and members of her community. She was deeply loved and universally adored by all who crossed her path.
A passionate and talented young woman, Jocelyn had a love for dancing and frequently performed at local community events, always bringing energy and heart to every performance. She also loved singing and expressing herself creatively through videos and social media content, where her vibrant personality and creativity earned her a loyal following. Jocelyn lived life with passion, authenticity, and love, leaving unforgettable memories with those closest to her.
Though her life was tragically cut short, Jocelyn’s impact on others will never be forgotten. Her beautiful spirit, bright smile, and loving heart will continue to live through the countless lives she touched.
Jocelyn leaves behind her loving mother, Jacqueline Lopez; her father, Ricardo Hernandez; and her stepfather, Jesus Morales. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Gloria Lopez (maternal) and Guillermina Rivera (paternal); her sister, Marilynn Hernandez; her brothers, Ricardo Hernandez Jr. and Jesus Morales Jr.; her stepbrother and stepsister, Joshua Morales and Nydializuu Morales; her beloved niece and nephew, Aniya Harris and Steven Claps; and her cherished goddaughter, Yazmyn Bryant. She also leaves behind her Godsisters, A'Nijah Maynard, Tia Maynard, and Savonna Marks; her Godbrother, Delvin Prescod. She also leaves behind a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, her beloved “Rugrats,” and many dear friends who will miss her deeply and cherish her memory forever.
She was predeceased by her beloved Godmother, Niya Maynard.
Jocelyn’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who loved her. She was a shining light gone far too soon, but her love and legacy will continue forever.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, Connecticut from 10am-12pm. Funeral Services will Start at 12pm. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfuneralls.com.
