John D. McLaurin Jr. aka DeeJay, was born June 25, 1975, in New Haven, CT to the late Patricia Holmes and John D. McLaurin Sr. DeeJay was fun-loving, out-going and good natured. He loved his children, family and friends. He was very kind hearted and would help anyone who needed help. He made friends no matter where he went, even while on vacation in Virginia. He attended school in New Haven, CT and worked various jobs throughout his life. After the passing of his mom, he met the woman he would spend his life with and started a family, all while facing and fighting his own silent battles. DeeJay and Chandrea, have 3 beautiful children together, their daughter Jacqueline Perno, and sons DeChan and D’Andre Perno, who will forever love and miss him dearly. Although they had separated for a while, they found their way back together and continued to love each other as they always did. The love they had for one another was wild and crazy, but they knew they were destined to always be together. DeeJay took many rides “up the way” and from time to time would go fishing and hangout with his best friend Swift (George). He loved to listen to music, watch movies, play games on his playstation and talk daily to his brother Jajuan. When he wasn’t doing any of those things he would talk on the phone to his Godmother Peggy who he lovingly referred to as PB. All in all, he lived his life his way and he was ok with that. DeeJay was loved by all who were blessed enough to meet and know him. John (DeeJay) leaves to cherish his memory, his lifelong partner of 30 years, Chandrea D Perno. Children, Jacqueline, DeChan and D’Andre Perno, all of Wallingford, CT. His sisters in-law Stacey Locke (Andreus) and Barbara Perno, both of Wallingford. His brother in-law Bruce Perno Jr. (Maida) of New Haven, CT. His Godmother Peggy Barnes of New Haven, CT. His Godbrothers Jajuan Barnes and Lamont Frederick, Godsister LaWanda Frederick and his niece Kayla Leeper, all of New Haven, CT. His sister Shalynn McLaurin, brothers John, Anthony and Derrick Hoover, all of New Haven, CT. DeeJay, was predeceased by his loving mother, Patricia Holmes, his father, John D. McLaurin Sr and his brother Terrence Holmes. DeeJay also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
