John Lee Mungo

John Lee Mungo, was born April 10, 1957 to the late Sarah Wilson and John Spry. He departed his life peacefully at his home in New Haven on March 29, 2018. He graduated from Richard C. Lee High, in 1975 as a star football player, and went on to the University of New Haven where he also played football. He then moved to Detroit to attend Michigan State. He also drove trucks for Standard Beef. His passion was cooking. John was preceded in death by his mother Sarah Wilson, stepfather Mose Wilson, maternal grandmother Annie Mungo, former wife Gretta Kim Mungo Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memories, daughter Charmaine James of West Haven, former wife Sherri Moye, sons John Moye, Jerome Moye of New Haven, daughters Stephanie (Demetrius) Gary of Champain, IL., Ashley (Mark) Terry of Detroit, MI., son Martece Longmire of Detroit, MI., sisters Shirley Edwards of Hamden, CT., Lulu Bland of West Haven, 8 grandkid and two step-grandkids, Uncle Curtis Mungo, Aunt Viola Graham and Evan Jennie Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday April 14, 2018 in Colonial, 86 Circular Ave Hamden at 11 O’clock. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
