John D. Murphy

John D. “David” Murphy, 67 returned to his heavenly home on December 15, 2021, after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

David was born to the late John and Madeline Murphy, a Manufacturing Executive, and a homemaker respectively, in Queens, New York on October 15, 1954. David’s formative years were spent gowning up in Armonk, New York. David was an acolyte and altar boy at St Patrick’s Parish in Armonk. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac HS in1972 and pursued his college degree in later years a SNHU. David obtained legendary status in the 1970’s as a caddie at Whippoorwill Country Club in Armonk. He later went on to work in the service/hospitality industry in Florida for several years. Upon returning to the New York/Connecticut David worked at Yves Delorme, a fine bed and bath linen company until his retirement.

David was blessed with a large and loving extended family. He married his best friend Nicole Pyron on May 17, 1990, in New Rochelle, New York. David helped raise his 2 children, Darrien and Connor, with patience, discipline, and humility. He taught them to read, write and solve complex problems, and took 24/7 daily care of his son Connor who was born with a rare Mitochondrial disease.  From the very beginning David encouraged them to explore the beauty of this world, leading to his eldest daughter, Darrien to become an accomplished writer.

David was described as a “golden heart”. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

David is survived by his wife, Nicole; his Daughter Darien, and two brothers and sisters. He is preceded in death by his son Connor, his sister Kathleen Ramsey (nee Murphy) and his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on December 18 th at Diving Mercy Roman Catholic Church in Hamden, Connecticut. A private internment service will be held in early Spring, 2022. The family gratefully declines flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted for the repose of David’s soul.
