John J. Petty of Woodbury, CT- John J. Petty, 85, of Woodbury, CT, known as JJ widower of Marie P. Petty passed away on March 3, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was born November 29, 1937 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellis and Dockiner (Sturdivant) Petty Sr.

He was educated in the Waterbury public school system and retired in 1999 from Pratt & Whitney. He was a member of Beacon Baptist Fellowship Church, Pastor Duane Crossman.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Carmen D. Petty of Chesapeake, VA, Ramona L. Petty of Austin, TX, and Tracy J. (Erica) H.(deceased) Petty of Virginia Beach, VA and their mother Barbara Petty of Chesapeake , VA. A step-daughter Heather P (Eric) Drake of Woodbury, CT. Also 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grand children, 3 great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by eight siblings, Mary Esther (Robert) Elliott Sr., Louise (James) Brown Sr., Ellis (Louise) Petty Jr., James F. Petty, Christine (Ozzie) Butler, Myrtle (Fletcher) Graves Sr., Ruth (William) Snow Sr. and Charles George (Thelma) Petty Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 12 noon at Colonial Funerals, 270 W Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702. Viewing in Colonial from 11am-12pm.
