John E. Zimla

John E. Zimla, age 77, of Shelton, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Complete Care Center of Meriden.  He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on October 28, 1946 to the late John and Mary (Benne) Zimla. Loving husband of Anita (Baransky) Zimla of Shelton, for over 55 years. Beloved father of Deborah (Robert) Bennett of PA., Dawna (Michael) Nuzzi of Meriden, Christopher (Erica Meister) Zimla of Madison, and Robert Zimla of MO. Cherished grandfather of Robert (Elizabeth) Bennett, Michelle (Joel) Bence, Kristen Todd, Michael (Tiffany) Nuzzi, Tyler (Jennifer DeGrand) Nuzzi, Richard Iliff, and Tammy Maida. Also he is survived by four great grandchildren Kailey Bence, Mackenzie Bence, Aiden Nuzzi, and Isabelle Nuzzi. He was predeceased by two sons Richard Iliff and Cary Iliff.

John was a graduate from Bunnell High School of Stratford, class of 1963. He worked at Lacey Manufacturing of Bridgeport as a Tool and Die Maker for over 37 years. He was a member of Berean Assembly of God Church, of Milford for 35 years and he became a Deacon there as well. John participated in the Royal Rangers Youth Program and went on missions and trips to Nigeria and Israel. He loved the sun, gardening, fishing, going on vacations in the islands, the word of God and being a witness of people talking about Jesus, but what John loved the most was being with his family.
