Josefina Rey

Josefina Rey, age 81, of New Haven, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023 at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, on May 8, 1942, to the late Rafael and Liboria (Maysonet) Rey. She was the loving mother of Wanda (Ramon Rosario) Malave, Mary (Wilfredo) Rodriguez, Julio (Aida) Malave, Rosa Malave. Beloved sister of Rusty Rey and Valentino (Carmen) Rey. Survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Antonio Malave, one daughter Anita Malave, one sister Auria Rey, and three brother’s Wilfredo Rey, Francisco Rey, and Johnny Rey. Josefina loved to sew, bake, her music, and late night glass of wine. She always welcomed her guest with a big plate of food, and she always had a smile on her face.

A Visitation will be held on Friday evening, June 30, 2023 in Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden from 5-8pm. Funeral Service will start at 6pm in Colonial on Friday. On Saturday Morning, July 1, 2023 visitation will be at Colonial from 8:30am-10am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
