Joseph Scarborough Flowers, age 60, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 21, 2025. He was born on March 3, 1965, in New Haven, Connecticut, to the late Edward Flowers and Daisy Mae (Ballard) Flowers. Joseph attended Lee High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1984.
Joseph loved the Lord, his family, and his friends deeply. He was known for always checking in on those he cared about, including his elderly neighbors and aunts, cousins, and siblings. Like his father, Joseph made it a priority to stay connected with family, never allowing distance or time to weaken those bonds.
Blessed with a remarkable memory, Joseph never forgot a birthday and was often the go-to person for recalling cherished family moments. He was a kind and caring individual with a warm sense of humor, and he proudly considered himself funny. Joseph formed many meaningful friendships through Fellowship Place and during his time receiving dialysis, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He never met a stranger.
Joseph’s loving spirit, thoughtfulness, and presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Britney Slaughter of New Haven, CT. A close friend Pamela Mouzon, his three brothers Jimmy Davis (VA), Thomas Doc Flowers, and Kenneth Flowers (GA). His seven sisters, Martha Ann Dailey (CT), Virginia O'Neal and Abigail Harrison (NC), younger sisters Sabrina Moncrease, Pamela Moncrease (CT), Bridget Moncrease, and Elesia Mullins (NC). A host of nieces, nephews. He was a resident at Bella Vista Apartments in New Haven where he leaves behind many friends. Joseph was predeceased by his brother Charles Davis, Sister Shaunywa Moncrease-Reed, ex-wife Gloria Willet.
A memorial service of Joseph Flower's life will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT 06514, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM which will be followed by an 11:00 AM service. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
