Josiah Mitchell

Mr. Josiah Mitchell, 47, formerly of Waterbury, entered into the Gates of Heaven peacefully at Stamford Hospital in Stamford.

Josiah was (proudly) born in Boston, MA on July 23, 1975, son of the late Josiah Mitchell Sr. and Patricia (Thomas) Walker. He leaves behind his stepfather, Reynold Walker. Jamal, as many called him, moved to Waterbury in 1993 with his family. From the moment he came to Waterbury, it was clear that he possessed a level of caring and empathy that exceeded most. He went above and beyond to take care of both of his grandparents – especially during the time they needed it the most. Jamal enjoyed music, dancing, cooking and barbering. He valued every moment that he spent with his family and loved deeply. Most of all, Jamal truly loved the Lord and trusted in Him, even during the most difficult times.

Jamal is survived by his wife, Seana Malone of East Hartford, his children, Shyanne Harris of Alabama and Josiah Mitchell III of East Hartford, his siblings Jenil Walker of Delaware and JeMere Walker of Bridgeport. He also leaves behind two uncles, Abraham Thomas, Jr. of Waterbury and Brian G. Thomas of Waterbury as well as a host of cousins and friends. Jamal also had a very special place in his heart for his cousin (aunt) Darrilyn Mero of Georgia, and the Mitchell Family.

Funeral will be held Friday, October 21st, 11am . at the Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury Street of Waterbury. A calling hour will be held Friday from 10am till the time of the service at the Church. A private burial will be held at a later date.
